Hoosier Coho Club Classic
May 4-5, 2013
Michigan City, Indiana
www.hoosiercohoclub.org
Counting down to one of the great spectacles of Indiana fishing - the 39th annual Hoosier Coho Club Classic. The Michigan City Summer Fest event is the longest-running salmon tournament on the Great Lakes, doles out $50,000 in prizes and features a $10,000 top prize in the Professional division.
Some 70-plus fishing boats will blast-off from within one-half mile of the Lighthouse at 7 a.m. each day, then return to weigh the day's catch by 1 p.m. The drama-packed, final-five weigh-in, where nobody knows who wins until the last fish is weighed, takes place at 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at the big tent in Washington Park.
The 2013 Classic will again be featured as the opening episode in the 13-part Salmon Showdown television series which airs nationwide in January. New this year, the Hoosier Coho Club will sponsor a Youth Fishing Team, consisting of local teenagers, in the Classic.
And as always, plenty of food and beverages will be available at the weigh-ins, which are open to the public.

The BIG Parade
The Michigan City Summer Festival Parade runs along Franklin Street from 10th Street to Ames Field. Crowds are often four and five deep on the sidewalks along the parade route. Spectators arrive early to get choice spots.
The parade usually has around 180 entries and will include a number of drum and bugle corps units that will perform that evening in the Annual Drum Corps International Pageant of Drums competition at Ames Field.
Parade units will line up on Washington Street from the Post Office to Ninth Street, with some units on side streets around 10th and Franklin Streets. The parade line-up will be listed in The News-Dispatch a day or two before the parade. Show starts at 11am. Every year, the parade will have a theme which we ask participants to use their creativity in expressing. See the calender of events for the current theme.
