Description
The Summer Festival Committee announces it's annual authentic German Oktoberfest to be held in Michigan City, Indiana. On Saturday from 11:00am-11:30pm and on Sunday from 11:00am-6:00pm. The Oktoberfest is held in Washington Park at the Michigan City Senior Center, Two on the Lake, Michigan City, IN. (NOTE: GPS & Mapquest for this address is incorrect, please use the following directions). Try using Matey's Restaurant at 110 Franklin St, Michigan City IN 46360 which will get you close to Washington Park. Once you see Matey's Restaurant, continue straight and go over the bridge. The road will curve to the right and just before it curves to the left you want to turn left to enter into Washington Park. You will see a "toll booth" type of structure as you enter the park. Go thru that and turn right at the first road you come to. Then, at the stop sign, make a left and as you go up the hill you will see the Michigan City Senior Center on your left with a big tent out front. You can't miss it once you get that far.
A true Oktoberfest is a celebration of a bountiful harvest and is celebrated with food, drinks, music, and dancing. The food will be prepared by Steve Alt from Michigan City, Indiana. The menu will include ghoulash with spaetzel, brats with sauerkraut, warm German potato salad with bacon, boiled potatoes, frankfurters, German chocolate cake, black forest cake and German brews, wine, and schnapps.
Details to be announced.
